PRESERVATION

How do you preserve what we hold dear in the face of VIOLENCE?

“I don’t know if I still believe in peace the way I once did, but I believe in the quiet work of trying…”
- Helen (a member of Standing Together, a grassroots Jewish-Arab movement fighting for peace, equality and social justice)

There has been too much cultural erasure in the world - artists, arts institutions, libraries, universities, theatres, archaeological sites - burned, bombed,  reduced to ash and rubble, while too many of the arts workers who have animated these spaces have been murdered, imprisoned, silenced.

Preservation is an international project, produced by Volcano, to preserve cultural voices in the face of genocidal force.

Preservation's first iteration features short works from a diverse group of Palestinian artists. Their work will be premiered both online and during a live exhibition in Toronto.
