Since 1994 Toronto-based Heidi Strauss has worked as an independent dance artist. She has performed with Fujiwara Dance Inventions, Tribal Crackling Wind and Sylvain Émard Danse. In theatre & opera, she has choreographed for the Frankfurt Opera, the Canadian Opera Company, Volcano Theatre and Necessary Angel, and worked as rehearsal director for Tribal Crackling Wind, Chartier Danse & O Vertigo. In 2008 Strauss founded adelheid, and since then has been dance-artist-in-residence at Factory Theatre where she has created 3 full evening works including the Dora Award winning this time. She has given workshops across Canada, and in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Singapore. She is a 2012 recipient of the KM Hunter Award for Dance.
