Srutika sabu, EEAP Artist

Srutika Sabu (she/they) is a failed-doctor-turned-clown, writer, and multidisciplinary artist who uses absurdity and whimsy to tell stories that are funny and quietly heartbreaking at once. Trained in clown at Sweet Action Theatre, she's best known for her drag king persona Santosh Santosh, which recently won WTFestival's Strange Maker Award at the Toronto Fringe. She's an alum of selective emerging artist programs including ArtWorksTO, Buddies in Bad Times' Emerging Creators Unit, Paprika Festival's Creative Producers Unit, and Factory Theatre's TEPS program. She is currently developing a musical My Beef with Beef with Canada Council support and Theatre Aquarius's National Centre for New Musicals. Her first short film, Galaxy Pants, which she wrote, directed, composed, and animated, was selected for the Canadian Film Festival's Comedy Ignitor Challenge Showcase. She also produced and directed Fairy Trans Parent, a documentary webseries about newcomer and refugee trans relationships, an official TOWebfest selection.
