Steven smits, Metcalf Foundation Arts Managment Intern

Steven is an emerging Arts Manager based in Toronto. He is a graduate of the National Theatre School’s Production Program and is presently studying Arts and Culture Management though MacEwan University. He is currently serving on the Toronto Fringe Festival’s Board of Directors, the Professional Association of Canadian Theatre’s Advocacy Committee, and Theatre Ontario’s Youth Advisory Committee. He has spent two seasons at the Stratford Festival, the Royal Manitoba Theatre and Centre and the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival. In his hometown of North Bay, Steven worked with the Downtown Improvement Area as the Special Events Coordinator and as the Marketing Specialist. His love for arts management started in North Bay while he was producer for a local production of Pippin. Steven is a recipient of the Jean A. Chalmers Guthrie Award through the Stratford Festival for Apprentice Achievement.
